The Brewers has been a local feature of the Merivale hospitality scene since 1989. Over the years its been through various incarnations of itself. Most recently the venue was purchased by Josh Lilly and Luke Piper. Josh and Luke met around 10 years ago and struck up a friendship over mutual interests in sport and business. Josh was already an owner of one hospitality venue in North Canterbury and Luke a company in SME advisory. However, inexplicably one day the pair had a slight brain explosion and decided to buy a pub right on COVID lock down. Anyway, like all small businesses during that time there were some stressful moments, but hey we got through it and the rest as they say is history. ‍
